The Most Valuable Star Wars Action Figures Ever Sold

Most of the most valuable Star Wars action figures aren’t rare characters. They’re the earliest versions of famous ones: a Boba Fett prototype whose rocket actually fires, the first Luke, Vader and Ben Kenobi with a two-stage lightsaber, and a Jawa in the vinyl cape Kenner swapped out almost straight away. Here are the record prices, who paid them and why. I own the full run of 96 vintage Kenner figures, so the photos are my own, though, as you’ll see, mostly not of the expensive versions.

The rocket-firing Boba Fett

rocket firing boba fett record sale

Kenner planned a mail-away Boba Fett with a spring-loaded rocket, then pulled the feature over safety concerns before release. The figure that shipped has the rocket glued in place, and only a small number of working prototypes ever left the factory.

It has set a new record three times in recent years: $236,000 at Hake’s in 2022, $525,000 at Heritage on 31 May 2024 for one of the hand-painted “L-slot” prototypes, and $1,342,000 at Goldin in August 2024, only three months later.

The double-telescoping lightsabers

Vintage Kenner Luke Skywalker Action Figure
My Luke Skywalker, with the standard single lightsaber

The very first Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader and Ben Kenobi figures had a two-stage lightsaber: a thin second blade slid out of the first, like the saber igniting in the film. It was fragile and expensive to make, so Kenner replaced it with a simple one-piece saber early in the production run. Carded examples are now among the most valuable production Star Wars figures there are.

  • Luke Skywalker: $161,458 at LCG Auctions in August 2025, on a 12-back-C card graded AFA 90 with the saber fully extended. LCG had sold another AFA 90 Luke for $100,252 in 2022.
  • Darth Vader: $130,095 at Hake’s in May 2025, on a 12-back-A card graded AFA 80, from the Jeff Jacob Collection.
  • Ben Kenobi: $79,178 at Hake’s in November 2022, unpunched and graded AFA 75.

Fake double-telescoping sabers are common, so buy one only with grading or a solid history behind it.

The vinyl cape Jawa

Vintage Kenner Jawa Action Figure
My Jawa, in the cloth cloak, not the vinyl cape

The 1978 Jawa first shipped with a vinyl cape, which Kenner quickly replaced with the cloth cloak most collectors know. In March 2026 one on an unpunched 12-back-A card, graded AFA 95, sold for $55,152 at Hake’s, a world record for the figure. It’s also one of the most faked figures in the hobby, so the card and the blister matter as much as the figure.

Vlix

Vlix was made for the second wave of Kenner’s Droids figures, which was never released. He was produced only in Brazil, by Glasslite, in tiny numbers. A carded Glasslite Vlix sold for £12,000 at Vectis in 2016, and Hake’s has since sold a higher-graded one for about $44,000.

Yak Face

Vintage Kenner Yak Face Action Figure
My loose Yak Face

The last figure in the vintage line, released on a card only in Canada and Europe, never in the United States. In May 2025 a Kenner Canada Yak Face on an unpunched 92-back card, graded AFA 90, sold for $23,737 at Hake’s. Only eight had been graded at the time, and it was the highest.

Bootleg and overseas Boba Fetts

Some of the strongest prices are for versions most American collectors have never seen. In March 2026 a Hungarian bootleg Return of the Jedi Boba Fett, graded AFA Qualified 85, sold for a record $25,726 at Hake’s. A year earlier, a Palitoy Tri-Logo Boba Fett from the French Meccano line, graded AFA 85, made $18,530. Palitoy put Kenner’s figures out in the UK and Europe, and its story is in the history of Palitoy.

The Blue Snaggletooth

Vintage Kenner Red and Blue Snaggletooth Action Figure
My red and blue Snaggletooths, side by side

The one grail I do own. Kenner’s designers were working from a single grainy head shot, so the Snaggletooth in the Sears exclusive Cantina Adventure Set came out tall, in a blue uniform, with silver boots. He was corrected to the short red version for the carded release, so the Sears set was the only way to get the blue one. He never came on a card.

The most valuable modern Star Wars figures

Modern figures don’t get near these prices, but some of Hasbro’s are worth far more than they cost. The most valuable Vintage Collection figure by recent eBay sales is the VC67 Mouse Droid, which only came in a 2011 San Diego Comic-Con exclusive set and has sold for $700 to $1,100 in 2026, and the HasLab Jabba’s Sail Barge sells for about $2,400. The full list is on my page of the rarest and most valuable Vintage Collection figures.

Why these Star Wars figures are worth so much

  • Prototypes: figures that were never meant to be sold, like the rocket-firing Boba Fett.
  • Early production changes: versions Kenner changed almost at once, like the double-telescoping sabers and the vinyl cape Jawa.
  • Overseas-only releases: figures sold only outside the US, like Yak Face, Vlix and the Palitoy and bootleg Boba Fetts.
  • Condition and grading: apart from the prototypes, the record prices are all for figures still on their cards and graded high. A loose figure, or a carded one in worse condition, sells for far less.

Is my vintage Star Wars figure worth money?

A loose common figure usually isn’t worth much. The money is in carded figures in good condition, the early variants above and anything sold outside the US. To check yours, find it in my vintage Kenner Star Wars figures checklist, then look at sold listings on eBay rather than asking prices. For a valuable carded figure, grading by AFA is what sets the price.
