Droid Factory is the Disney Parks line of 3.75-inch Star Wars droid figures. It started in 2012 as a build-your-own astromech counter at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and it now includes holiday and Halloween droids, four-packs from the films and shows, mystery crates, advent calendars and, since January 2026, a new Build-A-Droid figure every month. This checklist has every release from 2012 to October 2026, with the original price of each one.
Bossk’s Bounty is compensated for any purchases made through any Disney Store or eBay links that may appear below.
How many Droid Factory figures are there?
As of October 2026 there are 90 Droid Factory releases on this checklist, from single carded droids to four-packs, mystery crates and advent calendars. Together with the 7 Galaxy’s Edge Droid Depot releases near the end, that makes 97 releases and 185 droids. That doesn’t count the build-your-own droids, because the parts can be put together in thousands of ways.
What is Droid Factory?
Droid Factory opened during Star Wars Weekends in May 2012 at Tatooine Traders in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Visitors picked a dome, a body and legs from 71 pieces to build and name their own R-series astromech, with an optional third leg and a novelty hat. Three of the domes, the R6, R8 and R9, were made for Droid Factory and weren’t sold anywhere else. The droids came in single or dual packs, and Disney had been working on the idea since 2009.
The hats included Mickey Mouse ears, inspired by Jedi Mickey’s astromech R2-MK, and later a Goofy hat, a pirate hat, a fedora and a Yoda cap. A new collection of parts followed at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim in 2015, and protocol droids joined the line in April 2017.
The first themed droid, R2-D60, came out in 2015 for the 60th anniversary of Disneyland, and that year’s holiday droid, R2-H15, began a tradition that is still going. Disney says its ready-built droids have interchangeable parts that can be mixed and matched with the droids built at Droid Factory.
The 2026 Build-A-Droid Series
Since January 2026, Disney Store and Disney Parks have released a new Droid Factory figure each month, usually on the first Friday at 8 a.m. Pacific time on DisneyStore.com. Each one comes with a trading card and a piece of a bonus droid. The six figures in Series 1 build TC-332, and Series 2 is building RX-01.

Droid Factory and The Vintage Collection
Droid Factory figures are the same scale as Hasbro’s Vintage Collection, and five Vintage Collection astromechs share the Build-A-Droid sculpt:
- VC40 R5-D4 (2011): built on the Build-A-Droid R5 sculpt, first used for Hasbro’s 2009 Legacy Collection R5-A2
- VC149 R2-D2 (2019): built on the Build-A-Droid R2 sculpt, first used for the 2009 Legacy Collection R2-L3
- VC303 R5-D4 (2023): a repaint of VC40 for The Mandalorian
- VC322 R7-A7 and VC324 RG-G1 (2024): from the Escape from Order 66 four-pack, reworked from the revised Build-A-Droid R2 sculpt that Hasbro first used for its 2017 The Last Jedi R2-D2
That’s why they look at home next to Droid Factory astromechs. Hasbro’s new Vintage Collection R2-D2, due in 2027, is an all-new sculpt. I reviewed the Mandalorian R5-D4 and compared it with VC40 on my YouTube channel:
Other things called Droid Factory
- Kenner’s Droid Factory (1979): a playset from the original vintage line, with its own build-a-droid parts
- Hasbro’s Legacy Collection Droid Factory (2008 and 2009): figures packed with build-a-droid pieces. The 2008 Walmart two-packs built C-3PX, and a 2009 wave built a Phase III Dark Trooper
- The Star Tours figures (2002 to 2013): Hasbro’s earlier Disney Parks figures, such as RX-24 and the G2 droids, sold on Star Tours cards
- The Geonosis droid factory: the battle droid factory in Attack of the Clones
Where to buy Droid Factory figures
New Droid Factory figures are sold at Disney Parks and on DisneyStore.com, and most of the 2026 Build-A-Droid figures have already sold out online. On 26 October 2026, Disney Store had four in stock: R2-WRWLF, R2-H26, the 2026 holiday set and the BDX droids. Everything else is retired, and eBay is the place to look.
