Brand new images of the LEGO Star Wars January 2020 sets have been revealed so we finally get to see what all the new sets look like. For now, the new line combines some highly-anticipated sets addressing the brand new movie: Star Wars Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker, some never before seen new ships, and re-releases of well-known fan-favorites. Let’s take a look.
75263 Resistance Y-Wing Microfighter
Microfighter sets have never been impressive but they are a great option for a cheaper gift for kids and fun for collecting. The set includes the minifigure of Zorii Bliss who is a brand new character from the Resistance. It is not an exclusive figure as it appeared in the October 2019 wave of sets but it is great that people can now own this character in minifigure form at a cheaper price.
The Y-Wing itself is a small version of the brand new Resistance Y-Wing from the October wave which is the first version of this ship in red. In terms of playability, the microfighter has a couple of flick-fire missiles as well as a rotatable turret on top but nothing much else.

Ages: 6+
Minifigures: Zorii Bliss
Original Retail Price: $9.99
75264 Kylo Ren’s Shuttle Microfighter
The second microfighter in this wave is Kylo Ren’s Shuttle. The design looks very nice and clean and it has a couple of small play features – stud shooters on each side and foldable wings. It also includes the brand new minifigure of Kylo Ren with great new printing and his improved helmet.
Undoubtedly, this little set will become one of the most popular microfighters in the Star Wars theme. The ship looks neat and the minifigure is amazing. For $10, it will be a great purchase for anyone that wants a Kylo Ren minifigure without paying for one of the larger sets.
Year: 2020
Piece Count: 72
Ages: 6+
Minifigures: Kylo Ren
Original Retail Price: $9.99
75265 T-16 Skyhopper vs Bantha Microfighters
The last set from the Microfighters series in this wave is the T-16 Skyhopper vs Bantha. This curious little set is a great option to get two rarer minifigures in addition to a fun-looking Bantha. It is a similar build design to the one Dewback that appeared in a Microfighter set last year while the T-16 has a good design for such a complicated ship.
Original trilogy lovers can get this fun set for $20 which is a good price for 198 pieces in addition to two cool minifigures and a Bantha.
Year: 2020
Piece Count: 198
Ages: 6+
Minifigures: T-16 Skyhopper Pilot, Tusken Raider
Original Retail Price: $20
75266 Sith Troopers Battle Pack
The first battle pack from this wave will be the Sith Troopers Battle Pack which was definitely a highly-anticipated one by the LEGO community. It includes a couple of brand new Sith Jet Troopers that we have never seen before, a Sith Trooper, and a brand new First Order Officer (Could be a Sith Officer as well but we have no information as of yet).
The small ship in the battle pack is most likely a First Order snowspeeder but there is no confirmation about it yet. The design looks great with this rare blue colour but it does not offer anything impressive in terms of play features.
Overall, this set will most certainly become a hit among fans and will sell very well. The minifigure selection is great and creates the opportunity to build up an army of Sith Troopers.
Year: 2020
Piece Count: 105
Ages: 6+
Minifigures: Sith Trooper, Sith Jet Troopers x2, First Order Officer (or Sith Officer)
Original Retail Price: $15
75267 Mandalorian Battle Pack
This looks a great set and the perfect way to build an army of Mandalorians. The set contains 4 Mandalorian minifigures all with different colours and prints. The set also contains a mini speeder and gun turret for extra play value. I can see this set being a big favourite with kids and adults that make MOCs. 4 different Mando’s is awesome!!
Year: 2020
Piece Count: 102
Ages: 6+
Minifigures: 4 Mandalorians
Original Retail Price: $15
75268 Snowspeeder
Apparently, this set is from the Juniors line. We all know that hardcore LEGO Star Wars fans have not been fond of this line and were widely disappointed by the small sets that were previously released. In all honesty, the Snowspeeder in this set does not look great in terms of design and will probably not be popular in terms of sales.
Nevertheless, it is a good set for kids, of course, but not very appealing for adult collectors. It includes two minifigures – a Snowtrooper and Wedge Antilles that looks nice with the green helmet.
Year: 2020
Piece Count: 92
Ages: 4+
Minifigures: Wedge Antilles, Snowtrooper
Original Retail Price: $20
75269 Duel on Mustafar
Prequel sets have been rare in the last few years and this one will definitely be highly appreciated by fans of this particular trilogy. The design and build look surprisingly good and depict the popular duel on Mustafar.
The set also includes two hovering droids that we see in the movie which Obi-Wan and Anakin use to move above the lava. You also get a burning falling beam in the set which, if you remember, is one of the structures that the two characters fight on as they fall apart which is a great play feature in this set.
Overall, this set offers a lot in terms of playability and it an overall good mini-scale representation of the scenes from the movie. It includes two awesome exclusive minifigures with brand new ripped torso printing and will definitely receive a lot of appreciation by the LEGO Star Wars community.
Year: 2020
Piece Count: 208
Ages: 7+
Minifigures: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker
Original Retail Price: $20
75270 Obi-Wan’s Hut
Apart from the relatively high price, this set does look very promising. The creators have successfully designed a fun play set with many details and small accessories. The hut itself can be displayed in different ways – either open or closed and includes fun little features on the inside.
Looking at the price, it is high for 200 pieces but you do get a total of four minifigures. It might not be one of the popular choices when it gets released but it will be a worthy purchase when it goes on sale.
Year: 2020
Piece Count: 200
Ages: 7+
Minifigures: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker, Tusken Raider, R2-D2
Original Retail Price: $30
75271 Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder
You have probably reached the same conclusion about this set – it is pretty overpriced for 236 pieces and just three minifigures. Nevertheless, the Landspeeder itself looks great with an improved design compared to some of the previous versions.
Besides the landspeeder, we also get a small hiding place for the Jawa which is nothing impressive but a fun little addition to the set. It is cool that we get more Original Trilogy sets than expected but I believe they could have chosen them differently as we get two sets with Luke Skywalker from Episode IV: A New Hope.
Nevertheless, besides the inflated price, this set looks good and may end up being popular among fans.
Year: 2020
Piece Count: 236
Ages: 7+
Minifigures: Luke Skywalker, C-3PO, Jawa
Original Retail Price: $30
75272 Sith TIE Fighter
We finally get to something brand new and unique – a Sith TIE Fighter which looks insane. One of your first thoughts may be how will this thing be displayed. Bear no worries, it has its own stand included.
The set includes a First Order TIE Pilot, a Knight of Ren, and a Finn minifigure. The overall design of the TIE fighter is amazing with the red and grey accents and the brand new cockpit piece. It comes with a stand that looks sturdy and easy to use.
As for the minifigures, I believe we have seen this particular Finn variant in previous sets but the Knight of Ren appears to be a brand new character next to the two others we already received. Overall, this TIE Fighter looks beastly but comes at a very high price for 470 pieces. At this price point, LEGO could have included at least one more minifigure but we can’t do anything about it.
Year: 2020
Piece Count: 470
Ages: 9+
Minifigures: First Order TIE Pilot,
Original Retail Price: $80
75273 Poe Dameron’s X-Wing Fighter
The brand new Poe Dameron’s X-Wing is completely different than the last one we received a couple of years ago. This one has a brand new color matchup with orange, yellow, grey, and blue. Honestly, I believe that the addition of blue does not really fit the design here but the orange really makes the ship pop.
In addition, another change are the larger engine pieces that do not necessarily look bad but make it look kind of strange. The minifigure selection is great with Jenna and another brand new Knight of Ren. We can safely say that the figures of the Knights of Ren look awesome until now and will definitely draw people towards the two last sets we discussed. It could also be a smart marketing technique by LEGO to put them in the most expensive sets.
The X-Wing does also possess quite a few play features which makes it a great larger set for kids. Overall, the design is beautiful apart from the blue color pieces but this is my personal opinion and you may actually love it.
Year: 2020
Piece Count: 761
Ages: 9+
Minifigures: Poe Dameron, Jenna, Night of Ren, R2-D2
Original Retail Price: $90
Final Thoughts
Honestly, this January 2020 line has some good and some pointless sets. Undoubtedly, the most anticipated one will be the Sith TIE Fighter which definitely looks unique. Maybe, LEGO should have focused a little bit more on the Sequel Trilogy or The Mandalorian rather than giving us another Landspeeder or a snowspeeder but still, there will surely be many more sets after the movie comes out and the first season of the Mandalorian ends.
Unfortunately, the inflation of prices continues and LEGO Star Wars sets get more and more expensive. Most notably, the previous Poe Dameron’s X-Wings were priced at $80 while now, the new one will be $90. In the end, no matter the price, Star Wars will remain as perhaps the most popular among the LEGO themes and fans will never stop buying the new sets despite their rising prices.
